Day 45: Recovery
Princeton, IA
I am grateful for the opportunity Andy and Liz have provided me. I slept in a bed and even slept in. By 8:00, the sun is usually heating my tent up. I slept till 11:00 simply because I knew I could. That, and my foot needed a break. It did not throb as much last night. I cleaned my cut out again. I am making sure I take care of this. It is my top priority. I came downstairs and Liz whipped up a breakfast. Cheesy eggs and bacon were in order for this morning. I was a happy camper. After breakfast, I came into the living room and made friends with their Lazy Boy chair. I kicked my feet up and stayed there most of the day. I wanted the first round of healing to go right.
That evening, we all jumped in their truck and headed out to get ice cream. The kids got one place and the adults went to Whitey’s Ice Cream. It was like a Dairy Queen with an In-N-Out feel. We came back home and I realized my foot was not happy yet. I took off the bandages before showering to let it breath. I still had it covered from water in the shower until I could bandage it up for the evening. I kept the bandages loose so that it could get some air and continue to heal. While I did not do much today, I was filled with gratitude to Andy and Liz for all their help and support.
