I slept in a bit this morning because if was in the upper 40’s. I just had a hard time motivating at that temps. Once I got moving, I loaded my boat and set off from Mark’s dock. There was a group of day trippers paddling that past me as I was launching. We set off together. East of Bemidji lake was jammed with a fair amount of fallen debris. There were 6 trees that completely blocked the river. I managed to slide through the branches, lift my boat over the branches, and slide low under the branches. I struggled with some and over testosterone charged others. We made it out and I was off. Lake Irving was the first of lakes I had to cross. It was a little choppy and about 2 miles long. After that, I hit Lake Benidji. I stopped by The Kraus-Anderson Walleye Classic (http:\/\/www.kawalleyeclassic.com\/) that was being held that day. I opted to run over to 209 Bar and order a burger before heading out. On the way out, I met the president and talked with him about my adventure this summer. I took off and headed up to Diamond Point. I wanted to thank Ann for the ride to Lake Itasca and thank everyone for their help while I was there. I shot across Lake Bemidji and made my way to Wolf Lake. It was a big of meandering directions on the river, but it was calm and clear. I know there will be a stark contrast when I get down South. I made it into Wolf Lake and decided to find a camp location. I met a couple on the dock that saw me when I entered Lake Bemidji earlier that day. They gave me permission to sleep on their land. I set up camp and captured a few photos as I waited for dinner to cook. I sat down to watch the sunset feeling very appreciative simply for where I was located.
